iPad .. Fun Toy

I don't own one yet but played with one recently. It tethers to your laptop like an iPhone or iPod and it ingrates with you AppleTV if you have one. It has some new apps (books being the newest major app) and most if not all of your iPhone apps work on the iPad. Some software providers have scaled their apps to work on the larger screen (versus the iPhone).

I plan on buying one soon, just the WiFi version and not the 3G version. I see it as a coffee table device. I like the convenience of quick access to web browsing and apps (much like an iPhone) and the larger screen just makes it more fun. I have two AppleTVs at many iPods at home so keeping everything in sync will be interesting. Occasionally the AppleTVs get a bit confused and I have to reload my music and pictures. Apple hopefully has the bugs worked out on that front.

I like the remote control app for AppleTV on both the iPhone and iPad. You can control what music plays, the volume, and you can use these devices as your key board for searching YouTube. It would be great if the remote app could control my total sound system...maybe there is an app for that or if there isn't one there must be once coming soon. I wonder how Harmony Remote will respond to all of this.

Overall, I like the iPad for its fun and convenience.
